Christmas Memories

I thought I would have a festive post!! So I am listing some of my Christmas memories for every one to enjoy and/or scoff at.

1. The time I SWORE I heard Santa rustling the tree. My sister told me she would go check, and sure enough he had been there. She let me creep around the corner and see the candy canes he had put on the tree. :)

2. My brother and I woke up at 1:30 am and couldn't go back to sleep. We worked ourselves into a fit of excitement and giddiness so intense we would bury our faces in our pillows and squeal.

3. My sister reading us Christmas stories. She always made sure each character had its own voice.

4. Waking in the middle of the night with a raging fever. I was 12 and yet I still didn't dare walk past the tree into my parents room to get my mom. So I lay there praying with all my might for my mom to come to me and kept hallucinating that she had. Eventually my prayers worked and she came to check on us. The same year my dog Koby felt bad for me that I was sick so he layed by the couch all morning to make sure I wasn't alone.

5. The Charlie Brown tree we desperately purchased on Christmas Eve.

6. My Grandpa's deep love of Christmas and all his joy during that season. He had a giant stocking he hung up every year, telling us he hoped Santa would fill it.

I love Christmas!! Garish, tawdry, red, green, gold and reindeer everywhere. I do not enjoy chic' Christmas, where everything is tasteful and perfect. I like cheap plastic Santas and funny looking trees and whatever lights you find in the garage up on your house!! I REFUSE to say Happy Holidays, so MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!
